Ingredients
- 3 large apples optional
- 2 (21-ounce) cans apple pie filling
- 1 (15.25-ounce) box white yellow, or spice cake mix
- 3/4 cup butter melted
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon or 1 tablespoon cinnamon sugar
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- On a cutting board with a sharp knife, peel the apples, remove the core, dice into bite-sized pieces, and then spread the diced apples on the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Add the apple pie filling to the top of the diced apple layer.
- Evenly sprinkle the dry cake mix over the top of the apple pie filling layer. Note: Do not combine the dry cake mix with the apple layers.
- Evenly pour the melted butter all over the top of the dry cake mix layer and ensure there are no dry spots.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon on top of the cake.
- Bake, until browned and cooked through, about 50-60 minutes.
- Transfer the baked cake from the oven to a wire rack to cool.
- With a sharp knife, cut the cake into individual-sized pieces and serve.
