Ingredients
For the dip:
- 1 pound ground beef can substitute with ground turkey or ground chicken
- 1 (1-ounce) package taco seasoning plus water as called for on the package directions
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese softened
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded, divided
- 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese shredded, divided
- 2 ounces green chiles chopped
- 1 cup salsa
Optional toppings:
- lettuce to taste, shredded
- tomatoes to taste, chopped
- olives to taste, sliced
- cilantro to taste, chopped
- jalapeño to taste, seeded and sliced
- green onions to taste, sliced
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
- In a large pan, over medium heat, cook the beef until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Drain the fat from the pan.
- Add the taco seasoning and the called for water to the cooked beef and then cook according to the package directions.
- In a large bowl, combine the cream cheese, the sour cream, 1/2 of the cheddar, 1/2 of the Monterey Jack, and the chiles, mixing until fully combined.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture onto the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Layer the meat mixture on top of the cream cheese mixture.
- Layer on the salsa, the remaining cheddar cheese, and the remaining Monterey Jack.
- Bake until bubbly and browned, about 25 minutes.
- Top with your favorite optional toppings and serve.
