Recipe Background

Layered Heaven Bars offer rich textures and flavors with easy preparation.
Layered Heaven Bars captivate the senses with every bite. As they bake, the kitchen fills with the decadent aroma of chocolate mingling with toasty coconut, creating an irresistible invitation to indulge. You first notice the contrasting textures as the creamy sweetness of condensed milk envelops crunchy pecans, while the graham cracker crust provides a subtly salty backbone. These bars are like a symphony of flavors coming together, with each bite revealing layers more intriguing than the last.
Crafting these treats is as effortless as it is rewarding. Begin with the basics: melting butter softly binds the graham cracker base, providing a rich foundation for the diverse layers of chocolate chips and butterscotch. The hardest part might just be restraining yourself from devouring the ingredients before assembly. The easy preparation leaves ample opportunity to get creative—perhaps a sprinkle of sea salt on top for a hint of extra depth. Perfect for any gathering, these bars are a testament to the art of layering flavors and textures, making even the humblest occasion a bit more divine.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 1/2 cups graham crackers coarsely broken
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 cup pecans chopped
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/3 cups unsweetened coconut shredded

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving a 2-inch overhang on the sides.
  • In a small, microwave-safe bowl, add the butter and heat in the microwave until it has melted.
  • Let the melted butter cool to room temperature.
  • In a food processor, add the graham crackers and pulse until they are fine crumbs.
  • In a large bowl, add the graham cracker crumbs, the salt, and the melted butter and stir to combine.
  • Press the graham cracker mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  • Layer the milk chocolate chips, the butterscotch chips, the white chocolate chips, and the chopped pecans on top of the graham cracker crust.
  • Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the pecan layer and sprinkle with the coconut, gently pressing it down.
  • Bake the bars until the edges are golden-brown and the sweetened condensed milk is bubbling at the edges, about 23-28 minutes.
  • Transfer the baking dish to a wire rack and let the bars cool completely, about 1-2 hours.
  • Use the overhanging parchment paper to transfer the bars out of the baking dish and cut them into squares.
  • Serve.
